Indian Mackerel (Bangda)

Indian Mackerel is a highly commercial fish in South Asia and probably the number one exported fish from Pakistan to China, Thailand, Philippines, Hong Kong, and Europe. The fish is very seasonal in Pakistan and is abundantly available from September to March. However, limited supply remains to continues in the off-seasons as well. Since it’s a relatively small fish, it has very limited cooking options. Indian Mackerel is one of the healthiest fish found in the Arabian Sea and is loaded with Omega-3, Protein, and Zinc.

Javelin Grunter Dhotar

If you are a seasoned seafood lover, you must have known this fish as this is one of the very famous local fish with a very strong fan following. Javelin Grunter is a highly seasonal fish that is abundant from February to September. Javelin Grunter looks and feels the same as snapper and emperor but has a slightly thicker and dense body. Commonly it's used for curry along with pieces of heads included but it’s as good as for frying. Because of its large head as compared to the body, the meat yield is very low as compared to other fish.

Reef Cod has nothing to do with the common Cod fish as Reef Cod belong to the grouper family. It’s known as Reef Cod because of its flavor profile resemblance with Cod.
